TURNOVER OF THE 129 PATIENT TRANSPORT VEHICLES (PTV) TO LOCAL GOVERNMENT UNITS (LGUs) BY THE PHILIPPINE CHARITY SWEEPSTAKES OFFICE (PCSO)
Background
The main government agency responsible for raising and providing funds for health
programs, medical assistance, and national charities, as outlined in Republic Act No.1169 (as amended by Batas Pambansa Blg. 42 and Presidential Decree No. 1157).
PCSO Medical Transport Vehicle Donation Program (MTVDP)
- PCSO began distributing ambulance units in the 1990s.
- The Medical Transport Vehicle Donation Program (MTVDP) was launched in 2019 to enhance healthcare delivery.
- The program provides medical transport vehicles (PTVs), Type II Advanced Life
Support Ambulances, and Sea Ambulances to local government units (LGUs), focusing on underserved regions.
- It aims to ensure safe and timely transport of patients in government-run hospitals.
- Between 30 June 2022 and 8 September 2024, 227 LGUs (excluding Metro Manila)
received PTVs.
- A budget of PhP2.2 billion has been set for 2024 to acquire 1,000 PTV units, covering all cities and municipalities nationwide.
- On 10 September 2024, PTVs will be handed over to 129 municipalities in CAR and Regions II, III, IV-A, IV-B, and V.
